Step 1 is a one-time setup. After that, every import is three steps.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Step 1 - Copy the service account email<\/h4>\n\n<p>Go to <strong>Cloud Importer<\/strong> in your WordPress admin menu. At the top of the page you will see the <strong>Service Account Setup<\/strong> card showing an email address like:<\/p>\n\n<pre><code>mcai-drive-image-importer@auto-media-import.iam.gserviceaccount.com\n<\/code><\/pre>\n\n<p>Click the <strong>Copy<\/strong> button next to it. You only need to do this once.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Step 2 - Share your Google Drive folder with that email<\/h4>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Open Google Drive in your browser.<\/li>\n<li>Find the folder containing the images you want to import.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the folder and choose <strong>Share<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Paste the email you copied in Step 1 into the \"Add people\" field.<\/li>\n<li>Set the permission to <strong>Viewer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Uncheck \"Notify people\" \u2014 the service account has no inbox.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Send<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>If you use a Google Shared Drive, add the service account as a member of the Shared Drive itself with Viewer access, instead of sharing a single folder.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Step 3 - Paste the folder URL into the plugin<\/h4>\n\n<ol>\n<li>In Google Drive, right-click the same folder and choose <strong>Get link<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the link. It looks like:\n   https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1YT7mz11FqTXLuAxhiDMD3UbbIwu5TJP1<\/li>\n<li>Go back to WordPress, open <strong>Cloud Importer<\/strong>, and paste the URL into the <strong>Google Drive Folder URL<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h4>Step 4 - Choose your options and click Start Import<\/h4>\n\n<p>Below the URL field are four options. All are checked by default.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Skip Duplicates<\/strong> \u2014 Uses MD5 file hashing to skip images already in your Media Library.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Image Compression<\/strong> \u2014 Reduces file size. A slider appears to set quality (50 to 95 percent, default 80).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Convert to WebP<\/strong> \u2014 Converts JPG, PNG, GIF, and BMP to WebP format. Typically 25 to 35 percent smaller.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Generate Alt Text<\/strong> \u2014 Creates SEO-friendly alt text from filenames, for example <code>fat-brain-dimpl-digits-4.jpg<\/code> becomes \"Fat Brain Dimpl Digits 4\".<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Choose your <strong>Batch Size<\/strong> \u2014 how many files are processed per round trip to the server:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>10 \u2014 safest for slow hosts<\/li>\n<li>25 \u2014 default, good for most sites<\/li>\n<li>50 or 100 \u2014 faster on well-configured hosts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Then click <strong>Start Import<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h4>What happens next<\/h4>\n\n<p>A progress card appears showing the percentage complete, files processed, and counters for <strong>Successful<\/strong>, <strong>Failed<\/strong>, and <strong>Skipped<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>You can pause, resume, or cancel at any time. If you close the browser tab, the import continues on the server. Reopening the plugin page picks up where it left off.<\/p>\n\n<p>When the import finishes, click <strong>View Results<\/strong> to see the imported images in your Media Library.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Importing a different folder later<\/h4>\n\n<p>Repeat Steps 2, 3, and 4. The service account email stays the same. Every folder you share with it becomes available to the plugin.<\/p>\n\n<h3>External Services<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin relies on two external services.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Google Drive API<\/h4>\n\n<p>The plugin connects to the Google Drive API to list files in the folder you shared and download the images you select.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> List folder contents, retrieve file metadata (name, size, MIME type), and download image files.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data transmitted:<\/strong> File IDs, file metadata (names, sizes, MIME types), and file content (the images themselves).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Authentication:<\/strong> A Google service account. Access is granted only to folders you explicitly share with the service account email displayed on the plugin settings page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Service provider:<\/strong> Google LLC<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terms of service:<\/strong> https:\/\/developers.google.com\/drive\/terms<\/li>\n<li><strong>Privacy policy:<\/strong> https:\/\/policies.google.com\/privacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>You can revoke the plugin's access at any time by removing the service account email from the folder's sharing settings in Google Drive.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Cloudflare Worker<\/h4>\n\n<p>The plugin routes its Google Drive API calls through a Cloudflare Worker operated by the plugin author. This avoids requiring each user to create their own Google Cloud project.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> Sign and exchange service account tokens, proxy Google Drive API requests, and download image files to your WordPress site.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data transmitted:<\/strong> Folder IDs, file IDs, and file content when images are downloaded. The service account credentials are held by the plugin author and are never visible to plugin users.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Service provider:<\/strong> Cloudflare, Inc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terms of service:<\/strong> https:\/\/www.cloudflare.com\/website-terms\/<\/li>\n<li><strong>Privacy policy:<\/strong> https:\/\/www.cloudflare.com\/privacypolicy\/<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>No personal user data is stored by the plugin author. The Worker stores only a temporary Google access token in Cloudflare KV storage, which expires automatically within 55 minutes. Imported images are stored only in your own WordPress Media Library.<\/p>\n\n<h4>PayPal<\/h4>\n\n<p>The plugin provides an optional hyperlink to the PayPal donation page for the plugin author. PayPal is only contacted if you choose to click the link. It copies a fixed email address to your local clipboard so you can send a donation from your own Revolut app or website. The plugin never connects to Revolut, never opens Revolut, and never sees or stores your Revolut account details.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Privacy Policy<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin does not collect personal data, does not set cookies on the front end, and does not send data to any third party other than the two external services described above (Google Drive API and Cloudflare Worker).
